Our Story

We Have Been Focused on the Future Since 1952

There are still places where time seems to have stopped, where even today we find that fascinating dimension of a small village, with children playing in the square, the bells ringing and the fishermen returning from the beach.

That’s what Praiano is, where the Esposito family has been welcoming visitors for more than seventy years.

Donato and Carmelina’s Intuition

It was 1952 when Donato Esposito and his sister Carmelina decided to open the “Bar Tramonto d’Oro” (Golden Sunset Café)

After years of hard work and dedication, the restaurant was added, and then a bit later the hotel, with the building of the rooms, which were completed in 1963.

Memories to Treasure

Every now and then we stop and sit down to look at photos like these, photos dating back to the early years of our business.

They represent pictures of the road we have traveled down, from the first hotel created in Praiano. If we are what we are today, it is thanks to those who preceded us. It is from them that we inherited a special passion for our land, respect for traditions and love for simple and genuine things.

Seventy Years Old and Not Feeling It

Although more than 70 years have gone by, with the past as a treasure in our hearts, our thoughts are always focused on the future, looking towards what we will become.

Teresa De Luca, Donato’s wife, with their children Carmela, Emilia and Raffaele take care of the guests nowadays.

Here at the Tramonto d’Oro Hotel, you will always find a special welcome, realizing that it is more than just a job for us: it’s a real part of our history and our family.

Along with our staff, you will find us in the kitchen, at the front desk, or behind the counter in the café, always ready and willing to assist you.

"What a brilliant culinary experience, with breathtaking views. We were surprised between every course with complimentary small plates (hors d’oeuvres) which added to the amazing food we had ordered. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed a conversation with the owner who informed us of the family history behind the restaurant.

Breathtaking views

"Situated perfectly atop a beautiful view of the sea as well as the San Barrano church. Easy access to Path of the Gods (about fifty feet from entrance) I had vegetable lasagna and husband had a cheeseburger. Excellent. Staff was beyond courteous and very knowledgeable of area and made our Praiano visit something to remember! Beautiful accommodations. Praiano only place on coast to see sunrise and sunset. Can’t wait to go back."
